President Lee, Kang-Kook was invited to the Federal Constitutional Court of Germany and met with President of the Court, Prof. Dr. Andreas Vo©¬kuhle, on May 11 and discussed the common interests and ways to promote cooperation between the German and Korean Constitutional Courts. In the talks, President Lee proposed the possibility of a training program at the German Constitutional Court for Korean constitutional research judges, and President Vo©¬kuhle responded by welcoming the idea and saying that he would offer full support in that regard. Justice Cho, Dae-Hyen and Secretary General Ha, Chul-Yong also accompanied President Lee to the visit. The Korean delegation and representatives of the German Constitutional Court, including President Vo©¬kuhle and a number of Justices, held working sessions over two days on May 11 to 12 and intensely debated issues, such as the standard and method of constitutionality review and recent decisions. Meanwhile, President Lee also attended the inauguration ceremony of President Vo©¬kuhle on May 14 (local time) and congratulated his assumption of office. Before returning to Seoul on May 25, President Lee also met with the heads of the French Constitutional Council, Austrian Constitutional Court and the Czech Constitutional Court and discussed mutual cooperation with Korea and their respective countries.
